NEW BOATERS
If you are a new boater, you may be required to attend a boater's safety class to operate a motor boat in the State of Michigan. This is especially important (and required) for young people who may be driving your watercraft. Spring is a great time to learn all about the laws governing boat operation. Call the Oakland County Sheriff - Marine Unit at 248-858-7831 to find out when new classes are added each month or see a schedule on their website (click here.)

Our History
On April 12, 1827, Bloomfield Township received its new designation as a 36 square mile area by act of the legislative council. The first Township meeting was held at the house of John Hamilton on the Saginaw Trail, May 25, 1827.
The full history of the township may be found at the Bloomfield Historical Society website (click here.) It says, “Bloomfield Township emerged as a result of the Land Ordinance of 1786 written by Thomas Jefferson." If you’d like to do some research on specific properties, township records, including Township Historic Assessment Rolls and Property Tax Books may be found in the Bloomfield Township website (click here.)
